Home ownership is the American dream for many people. The idea of owning your own home and having a place of your own is a very attractive concept to most of us. The benefits of owning a home are both physical and mental. For some of us getting a break on our taxes are important and can prove to be a great reason to own a house. Couple the tax break with pride of ownership and you have a very strong case to home ownership.
The simple fact that you have a place to call your own is reason enough for some of us to purchase a home. The status of home ownership gives us a sense of accomplishment and pride. It is for these reasons that nearly 65% of the population currently owns a home.
These reasons combine to make my job as a realtor exciting. There is nothing better than working with people interested in purchasing and taking possession of their new home. When I am working with a client and have shown them several homes there is no better feeling than when they walk into the home of their dreams and realize that this is the house that they will soon call home.
There is a feeling that overtakes the room when the house we are viewing strikes a cord in my client’s hearts, and they have found the house that they will make into a home.
On the flip-side of that, I love to help existing homeowners achieve their goal of selling their home and moving into a new house. Again there is nothing more satisfying than taking a listing working with the owner on getting a home priced right getting it sold for and helping them find their new home.
My start in real estate came over nine years ago when I was building residential homes as a general contractor. It seemed like a natural fit to sell the homes I was building myself so I went to real estate classed took my state exam and became a licensed agent in the state of Michigan.
Having my Michigan contractor and real estate license gave me the opportunity to provide value added service to the people I built homes for. Not only was I now handling the building of their new home I could also assist them in the sale of their existing home.
I wanted to offer my customers value benefits by working with me by providing top notch customer service. Being both a real estate agent and a builder helped me accomplish this.
Getting my start in Genesee county Michigan in early 2000 proved to be a though career path by 2004 – 2005 the economy started slowing down. Living in a part of the country that was dominated by the American Auto industry that was losing market share to foreign auto makers causing my home town Flint, MI nearby Detroit and surrounding cities economy to spiral into recession took its toll on my building business.
I found that as the building aspect of my career began slowing I began relying on my real estate practice to earn a living. I began working more and more with both buyers and sellers of real estate and building less.
When I first began my real estate career I chose to hang my license with a small local independent broker, Best Buy Real Estate, in Fenton, MI. For a few reasons the most important was that I felt the broker would be more accessible and willing to give me hands on training. This proved to be a good decision as I was able to learn how to list a property and how to work with buyers. I learned how to work a contract and how to generate leads. My first broker was a key component to my development and understanding of the real estate business.
As I gained experience and began to make connections in the agent community I began forging relationships with other agents and eventually met an agent that I became quick friends with because we shared many of the same real estate philosophies and goals.
Thru this friendship, I decided to move my license over to RE/MAX Homes Incorporated in Fenton MI. Where I worked for a few years and eventually formed a Limited liability company for the purpose of real estate investing with my friend.
While working for RE/MAX Homes Incorporated I decided to earn my Graduate of Real Estate Institute designation and my Michigan broker’s license.
Having an entrepreneurial spirit eventually lead me to open my own real estate company and in February of 2004 I opened Total Real Estate Concepts. I was able in a short amount of time to have 5 agents working underneath me. I found managing agents to be challenging, exciting and rewarding. I enjoyed working with the other agents helping them solve their problems and coming up with solutions to their real estate challenges.
As the economy began suffering more and more I decided it was time to make a move. Due to family obligations I decided to relocate to the Greater Nashville area and begin my real estate career again. I have been her for a little over a year and am finding it challenging and stimulating at the same time.
Having earned my Broker’s license in Michigan I decided that I wanted to maintain my Broker status in Tennessee. I took the Broker management class passed the test, passed the state test and earned my Broker’s license for Tennessee.
I am now working with Encore Real Estate as the General Manger of the company and have authority to work BPO’s and REO properties.
I am very well qualified to handle all of your REO needs including, BPO’s, Listing of your properties and management of the properties.
Please contact me at your convenience to discuss my qualifications.
