Finally a Positive Customer Service Experience

Recently here on the www.thewealthpage.com I posted an article outlining a recent experience I had purchasing new tires for my Jeep Cherokee at Belle Tire in Flint, MI.

I explained that I was in my hometown Flint in November and decided to purchase four new tires on the visit.

I did a little internet research and did some comparison shopping before I left and found that most of the tire stores were priced relatively the same.  So I didn’t have a pre-determined store to purchase the tires.

I was talking to a good friend while on my trip about my intentions to purchase new tires to which he informed me he recently purchased four new tires for his pickup truck and told me to go to Belle Tire.  He told me his research on prices led him to Belle as they had the best prices.

I decided to take his advice and go to Belle Tire, as my friends testimonial was a very powerful influence on my purchase decision.

Feeling good about my purchase and safety with four new tires on my vehicle I headed home from a nice trip, the drive back to my home in the greater Nashville area was a pleasant journey and I didn’t have to worry if I encountered any weather. I had confidence that I could handle any weather with the four new tires I had just purchased.

A few days later I noticed a strange noise coming from the rear of the Jeep but couldn’t figure out what the problem was.  I took it to a mechanic who discovered my lug nuts had loosened.

The loosened lug nuts made the tire wobble and ruined the stems, the rim and the drum all of which had to be replaced at a total cost of $350.  I picked up the Jeep from the mechanic and drove home.

The next day I contacted Belle Tire and explained to them what had happened.  Having had issues with customer service in the past I didn’t have any expectations regarding the outcome of the situation, I certainly didn’t expect what happened.

I talked to a manager who asked for all the details and requested I fax over the receipts for his review.  Of course I immediately sent the info he requested thinking to myself this is a step in the right direction.

A few days later he called me and wanted to verify all the information I sent to him including my contact info. On the call he explained to me on higher mile vehicles sometimes debris will get between the rim and the drum which can break down and loosen up causing the lug nuts to vibrate loose and create problems.

He said he would be sending me a check to cover my expenses on the repairs I had to have done.  He explained how the company writes their checks and when I should expect to receive it.

This is a great example of a company who recognizes they made the mistake and the damage I had to pay for was their responsibility stepped up to the plate and did the right thing.

I couldn’t believe my ears when the manager told me they were going to pay for the repairs, but can tell you I was very pleased and will be a big fan of Belle Tire for a long time.

Here is an example of a business taking the time to investigate a customer complaint, review the circumstances and do the right thing by taking care of their mistakes.

Unfortunately, in today’s retail environment it seems that businesses take a who cares attitude and could care less about their customer.  Belle Tire in Michigan cares and stands behind their service; you can feel pretty safe doing business with them as they care about their customer.

Don’t miss the next post as I will be discussing a couple of businesses that were willing to sell their integrity for less than $20 bucks.
